Human rights are complicated. Explaining them doesn’t have to be.

JustNow is an educational platform that helps educators, youth workers and young people explore human rights through lesson plans, exercises, timelines and animated films.
For the platform, Spacefox created three films about reproductive rights, decolonisation, and climate change and pollution. Three very different subjects, each carrying a great deal of history, politics and emotion.
Our starting point was three written scripts. Nothing else. We divided each text into scenes, developed the visual ideas, designed the illustrations and animated the complete films in Adobe After Effects.
We were given the words. Everything you see came afterwards.
Decolonisation
Colonialism may be described as history, but its consequences are still present. This film follows the colonial era, the process of decolonisation and the questions they continue to raise for contemporary societies.
Reproductive Rights
A visual introduction to reproductive autonomy, the struggle for reproductive rights and the consequences when those rights are denied. It is a political subject, but also an intensely personal one. The film makes space for both.
Climate Change and Pollution
The greenhouse effect, pollution, international climate goals and the consequences of failing to act—brought together in one animated narrative about an issue that affects everyone.
Made to be used
The films now form part of the JustNow educational toolbox, where they sit alongside lesson plans, activities and timelines. They were not created simply to be watched, but to help start conversations about subjects that are often difficult to introduce.
